Business Education for Our Volunteers

Our volunteers have a unique opportunity to learn about the multiple facets of business as well as leadership. Through access to our Business Hub and mentors, they have a chance to learn and build their experience, which will help them gain confidence and professional skills.

Acceptance Into The Program

Volunteer candidates must first be accepted into the organization as a volunteer with a plan, or path. This begins with the volunteer application (see Volunteer Opportunities page) and concludes with an interview.

We take our qualified volunteers through each step to help them become comfortable with advocating for themselves whether they are are pursuing employment or enrolling into a vocational or collegiate program.

We conduct background checks starting at age 18 for all persons involved with New Concept Dance Company regardless of time held in their position, which includes Board Members, Directors, Faculty, Support Staff, Mentors and Volunteers.

Equal Opportunity Statement

Adopted by the Board of Directors on March 25, 2021

New Concept Dance Company does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, and provision of services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, clients, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

New Concept Dance Company is an equal opportunity employer. We will not discriminate and will take affirmative action measures to ensure against discrimination in employment, recruitment, advertisements for employment, compensation, termination, upgrading, promotions, and other conditions of employment against any employee or job applicant on the bases of race, color, gender, national origin, age, religion, creed, disability, veteran's status, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Our volunteers work behind the scenes with mentors, and provide business support for the organization. Volunteers and mentors do not work directly with dance company members. Each volunteer must fill out an application, provide three letters of recommendation, and list job references when applicable. Volunteers then attend a professional interview.

Although we are equal opportunity, we are also filling positions that provide professional mentorship, a learning opportunity, and real work experience. Qualifications may be found on our volunteer opportunities page.
